10 Days Rwenzori Climbing Tour, Mount Rwenzori Trekking

Explore the true peak of Uganda! This 10 day tour leads you to the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains, a very rewarding experience for climbers! The Rwenzori Mountains actually have been chosen among the best hiking destinations in the world by the National Geographic!

Day 1: Arrival
On arrival you will be received by one of our representatives at Entebbe Airport who will transfer you to Kampala and from there proceed to Mbarara Town where you will have lunch, before arriving on the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori. Dine and slumber at Hotel Margherita.

DAY 2: Begin the Equator Glaciers Trip
In the early morning head to Nyakalengija (at 1646m) where you will begin your climb up the mountains. This ascend leads you past river Mubuku and through dense equatorial vegetation a head Rwenzoriaof reaching the Nyabitaba hut (at 2650 meters). You may hear chimpanzees or even see the blue monkeys. Dine and slumber in Nyabitaba hut

Day 3: John Matte Hut
After breakfast you will begin moving again, over the Kurt Sharfer Bridge to see the beautiful Mubuku river confluence and later in the afternoon you will arrive at Nyamuleju hut where you will enjoy spectacular views at Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. You will ascend through the open  vegetation patches, lobelia, as well as the heath moss forest as you head to John Matte hut (at 3415 meters) where you will spend the night.

Day 4: Bujuku Hut 
Leave early through the huge Lobelias plus heath trees; ascend to Bigo Bog and the impressive lobelias plus giant groundsels landscape, and past lake Bujuku which is stunningly resting between the renowned mountains. Proceed to the rock shelter referred to as the Cooking Pot just before you reach at the final stop for the day. Dine and slumber at the Bujuku Hut (at 3960 meters).

Day 5: Elena Hut
From this valley dominated by alpine vegetation comprising of huge Groundsels plus Lobelia, you will ascend to Mount Victoria and Speke at 489m. enjoy the impressive views of the two glaciers Savoia and Elena, then move further through to Scott Elliott pass, continue through the snow up to the Elena Hut (at 4560 meters) where you will spend the night. This Elena Hut will be the final base for your last day as you conquer Mountain Rwenzori.

Day 6: Final  Ascent to the Alps of Africa
Very Early in the morning you will ascend to the snow covered Alexander peak (at 5092 meters) and continue to the mountain’s highest summit at 5109m; the renowned Margherita Peak! From there you will directly descend to the breathtaking lake Kitandara and spend the night in Kitandara hut (at 4020 meters).

Day 7: Guy  Yeoman Hut 
Following an early breakfast you will htake a lengthy descent which will begin with climbing from Lake Kitandara to the Fresh-field Pass where you can actually enjoy views of the neighboring Congo. You will enjoy a picnic lunch along the way and proceed with the journey as you descend to Guy Yeoman hut (at 3260 meters) where you will dine and spend the night.

Day 8: Nyabitaba Hut
Today you will steeply descend along river Mubuku River and connect to the initial route next to River Bujuku. Dine and slumber at Nyabitaba Hut (at 2650 meters).

Day 9: Kasese
After breakfasst you will descend for about 2 to 3 hours to Nyakalengija. Then you will continue to Kasese and check into Hotel Margherita where you will freshen up and relax following that great climb to the rooftop of Uganda. Dine and slumber at Hotel Margherita.

Day 10: Departure
After breakfast you will depart for Kampala and from there be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight. In addition you may choose to spend some more time in  Uganda to visit its various national parks and personally encounter the great amazing wildlife here.
