6 Days Birdwatching in Rwanda

DAY 1: Arrival at the airport

A Silverback gorilla tour guide will meet you at the airport in Rwanda to welcome you to the Land of “a Thousand Hills”. As part of your 6 Days Bird Watching in Rwanda safari, you will travel southwards to the Nyungwe Forest National Park. After a long drive of 4-5 hours, we’ll arrive at the lodge/hotel for dinner and sleep

DAY 2 : Bird Watching in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Start the second day of your Rwanda safari with breakfast, then head into the Nyungwe forest for your bird-watching adventure. We recommend that you bring a lunch with you since this is a full-day activity that involves nature walks and hikes throughout. In the thick canopies, your guide will help you identify different birds, and you’re likely to encounter different monkey species while on the lookout for birds. As it will be a full-day birding trip, it is very important that you carry plenty of water to stay hydrated. Your safari lodge will provide dinner and overnight accommodations

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe, transfer to Musanze

In the morning, awake to a delicious breakfast and make your way to the park headquarters for a presentation on the basics of chimpanzee trekking. In most cases, chimpanzee tracking does not last longer than four hours before you retire for lunch. You will check out of the lodge and drive northward to Volcanoes National Park. In addition to Kinigi Guest House and Muhabura Guest House, there are other lodges available.

Day 4: Trekking with the gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will meet at the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about the gorilla trekking adventure (make sure your lodge is next to the park headquarters). With your packed lunch and the necessary equipment, you will be guided by an assigned trekking guide to search for mountain gorillas. Depending on the group’s movement, the activity lasts between 1-5 hours. To recover from the breathtaking yet amazing adventure of the gorilla trek, you will be taken back to the lodge for additional refreshments. A group of traditional dancers will entertain you later in the evening, and you’ll learn about Rwandan singing and dancing and traditional drumming as well.

A golden monkey tracking excursion and a hike with Dian Fossey are the highlights of day 5

On day 5 of your Rwanda bird-watching tour, you’ll be tracking golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park. Following the photographic adventure, return to the lodge for lunch and visit Dian Fossey’s grave. In Karisoke research center, you will explore Dian Fossey’s life and learn about her efforts to conserve these beautiful creatures. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

DAY 6 : Kigali City Tour

In the morning, breakfast! Your last day at the lodge is when you check out and begin your journey back to Kigali. In some cases, we might take you on a brief tour of the city prior to letting you off for your flight back home, depending on the time of arrival
